Assessment

Assessment

A thorough psychiatric assessment to understand symptoms, history, and functioning.

Clinician taking notes during a structured assessment

Overview

A psychiatric assessment is a structured conversation lasting 60–90 minutes, often over 1–3 sessions. We review your symptom picture, life history, sleep, physical health, family context, and daily functioning. The aim is for you to receive a clear answer about what is going on — and what options exist.

Who is this for?

  • Symptoms that have persisted and affect daily life.
  • You have received different answers before and want clarity.
  • You are considering medical treatment and want a thorough review first.

How it works

  1. 01

    Preparation

You complete a short symptom and background form before the first session.

  2. 02

    Structured conversation

We systematically go through symptoms, life situation, and health history.

  3. 03

    Feedback

You receive a verbal summary, and a brief written note if needed.

Our approach

We use established clinical frameworks without reducing you to a checklist. Diagnoses are tools for understanding — not labels.

Frequently asked

What happens in a first consultation?
Your first consultation is a thorough assessment — about 60 minutes. We discuss your symptoms, personal history, and goals. This helps us understand your situation and recommend the most suitable treatment path. There is no pressure to commit to ongoing sessions after the first meeting.
Do you treat ADHD, depression, and anxiety?
Yes. We provide specialist assessment and treatment for ADHD, depression, anxiety disorders, impulse-control concerns, and general adult psychiatry. Each treatment plan is personalised to your specific needs and circumstances.
Do you accept health insurance?
MareSante does not receive government subsidies, so sessions are fully paid by patients. However, many private health insurance plans cover psychiatric consultations. We recommend checking with your insurance provider about coverage for private psychiatric care in Norway before your first appointment.
